pain

carlos was unable to attend the february 8, 2006 adjudication (word: pain) so he submitted this image via email. in his email carlos described his image (see comment)

Comments:
I was thinking of a few things when I made this: 1. Nan Goldin's self portrait with a bruised eye. She took this photo of herself just after her boyfriend beat the crap out of her. To me, this is one of the most painful and haunting images ever. 2. Our physical vulnerabilities to the world and the unseen threats that could enter our bodies and potentially cause us to literally bleed from our eyes, and 3. The eyes as a window to the soul - the pain's not always visible, but it's there. This is a visual manifestation.

Nice shot. I love the concept.
