South Park Photo Club

this picture was taken in chicano park, which is southeast of downtown san diego. my inspiration for this picture were a few words in the merriam-webster definition of vertigo: disordered state in which the individual or the individual's surroundings seem to whirl dizzily. the words disordered state struck me as very political, and by placing a george w. bush prop in the middle of chicano park to me symbolizes a complete breakdown of reality, a disorder of monumental proportions. also on the disorder plank, i thought that the combination of bush's priorities (which to many isn't focused on the enrichment of less influential peoples of color), symbolized by the prop, and the the faces of chicano park painted on the freeway support beam symbolizes a dysfunctional connection. the curving freeway overhead represents the "individual's surroundings seem to whirl dizzily" part of the definition.
